"We Had a Hell of a Run" is a body of work created between 2022 and 2023. Most of the paintings in this series were either shown in Gabriel's eponymous solo exhibition at Arc Collect in 2022 or in the duo show "Press - Pause - Play,"alongside Max Freund the following year.

This body of work predominantly features abstracted figurative scenes, precisely formed, sometimes digitally arranged, and brought to life with acrylic

paint or oil sticks on large-scale canvases or wooden panels.

Despite the boldly condensed visual language, Gabriel addresses the enduring complexity of living in the world. By infusing a sense of calm and structure into chaotic and noisy situations, he combines contradictory ideas into compelling compositions.
